Sebastian Cunard and designer Katharine Jeans have worked together for over ten years, officially launching Landspace in 2008.
Sebastian originally studied art and sculpture at college before realizing that creating beautiful gardens was what he really wanted to be doing. Influenced in his school years by the awe inspiring landscapes created by Capability Brown – this transition into landscape design and build was a natural progression.
His role in Landspace is to oversee all the projects from start to finish, liaising with customers from the first point of enquiry and meeting clients for an initial consultation. He relays all the key information back to the design team and helps to brainstorm initial ideas. Meticulously planning the schedule of works, he makes sure that all projects run smoothly and with the least disruption possible for the clients. On site, Sebastian oversees every detail and is also very ‘hands on’ with every project.
Katharine also has a background in art and design. Growing up in Hampshire, she spent her early years roaming free in the countryside. Her childhood was spent making dens and interacting with wildlife. This love of nature was to lead her to study ecology, horticulture and garden design.
Her role in Landspace is to direct the creative team. She is the head designer and is responsible for transforming the client brief into a visual concept. She also oversees all the planting designs and is the first point of call when liaising with suppliers.
They are a small but dedicated landscape garden, design and build consultancy that are passionate about the work they do. Growing from strength to strength, they have built up a phenomenal team of highly trained craftsmen and horticulturists, now having offices in both London and Suffolk.
Landspace have won national awards including four at the 2014 Association of Professional Landscapers Awards, two of which were for hard landscaping and overall design and build.
